1947 Packard Super Clipper Limo
1947 Packard Super Clipper
7 Passenger , 148” Wheelbase , Time Warp Original Condition, 64000 original miles
Finished in Packard Blue, with Blue Wool interior
Extremely Rare, Full CCCA Classic
After WWII Packard returned to production with the 21st series line of automobiles. This would mark the end of the long wheelbase custom era cars that Packard would be known for. The Supper Clipper boasted a massive Limousine wheelbase of 148” inches, coupled to Packard's largest engine, a 165-bhp 356-cubic-inch straight eight with a nine-main-bearing crankshaft and silent hydraulic valve lifters.
As far as condition, very few Super Clippers survive, and even less are original examples such as this car. Overall the car is in incredibly sound rust free condition, as seen in its preservation condition, as viewed today. The exterior is finished in Packard Blue, and the interior is the original Blue wool broadcloth interior, which has a few wear spots but is overall incredible for its age. Truly this is a car that should be preserved and enjoyed as it is. The gorgeous wood grain trim, and dash are in incredible condition. Even the factory radio still plays.
Mechanically the straight 8 motor, with High Compression head, fires instantly and has recently been serviced as needed, including the carburetor, distributor and other components. The manual transmission with overdrive works well and shifts smooth aided by the Electro clutch system. The entire brake system has been rebuilt including master cylinder, wheel cylinders, lines, ect. New king pins have also been fitted to the car.
This Packard will make an incredible touring automobile and a fantastic preservation car for showing at many events. Very few of the Long Wheelbase Super Clippers still exist, and even less in original condition. Act fast this Packard will not last long.
