This wonderful 1937 Buick Roadmaster Series 80 Convertible Sedan Cassis no. 3063784 stands out due to its remarkably preserved original condition. Formerly part of the Art Astor Collection, it was sold by RM auctions for $66,000 ( http://www.rmauctions.com/CarDetails.cfm?SaleCode=aa08&CarID=r0153&Currency ) . Its history and provenance is well known, it returned from Western Canada, and resided in 2 west coast collections prior to making it into the Astor collection, which was known for having rare and original automobiles. The 1937 Buick Roadmaster Convertible Sedan offered here is a remarkably well preserved highly original example. Clearly the recipient of outstanding care, the Buick has only needed very minor attention, primarily mechanical in nature to keep it running in peak condition. Exercised regularly, like all the other cars in the Astor Collection, this Buick is a fine running and driving example. The motor was completely rebuilt, and is smooth and powerful. The radiator has also been recored, and runs cool even in warm CA weather. It is a fine car that can be toured and enjoyed.
The factory applied paintwork has been buffed to achieve a very nice shine, however, this has left it quite thin in some places. I'm sure some areas in the paint have been touched in over the years but it is largely original. The black cloth top, which which has been done in the last 5 years shows well, and is fitted with the Proper rear window and original glass. Likewise, some selected items of the bright work appear to have been refinished at some point, but overall, the chrome is largely original and as such in impressive condition. The interior appears to be mostly original (except for the front seat that was recovered); the original factory installed brown leather seats and door panels have been well maintained. Like the carpets, the leather shows some evidence of wear, which is expected given it is seventy years old.
Recently tuned and serviced, including a full front brake rebuild.
