  • Top of the line Studebaker in 1929, with performance that is equivalent to the best classics of the era.
  • One of only FIVE surviving 7 Passenger Touring's. A RARE opportunity!
  • An excellent Tour Car for CCCA and AACA Events.

Watch a short video of this rare classic running and driving...

Studebakers President model was introduced in 1928, and took aim squarely at the greatest marquees of the era, including Cadillac, Packard and Pierce Arrow. The President had qualities other than the legendary durability of the marquee. Barney Roos was quoted as saying "For all its strength, it was amazingly docile, flexible and quiet - power under perfect control" Studebaker said "The motor delivers high torque at low speeds for flashing acceleration in traffic. Due to a short stroke and relatively low rear axle ratio, performance at high speed is exceptionally smooth. At 60 MPH the motor is turning over at only 2700 RPM's." After driving this car I can agree, it is very responsive, easy handling and fast. In fact, it is even more responsive that a Super 8 Packard. A very impressive ride.

The President is the rarest and most expensive model produced by Studebaker. I'm not sure how many were produced of the State Tourer, but I would guess the overall numbers to be rather low. I'm sure only a few of the 1929 7 Passenger State Tourers still exist (Only 3 listed in the CCCA). It is a rare and attractive car, fitted on a 135" wheelbase, with jump seats and the brackets are in the seat for installing a dual windshield. This car is a great survivor , that has been mechanically rebuilt and used by its previous owner who had owned the car for a very long time. Although the cosmetics are a bit tired, the mechanical condition makes up for it. The 115 HP ! 5 main bearing engine starts up instantly. Watch the video of the car out running and driving in 19 degree weather. It shifts smoothly, steers well, and brakes with authority,

It is very complete with only the horn button, lighter and the center S badge bar between the headlights (available as a reproduction piece) are the only items missing. A full set of original side curtains and irons accompany the car. The body is very rust free, with only a few quarter size rust holes in the bottom of the spare tire well. The hinges need to be rebushed and the cowl shimmed for adjustment, to align the doors properly. The paint is old and tired, but the body is straight, and rust free, with very few small dents.

A rare and wonderful car that can be restored as needed and driven right away. Not too many open Studebakers come available, and the President roadsters have been achieving prices in excess of $150,000. Priced to sell this car is an excellent value and a lot of fun to drive!
