By 1929 Chrysler was the third largest automotive manufacturer in the US. Based on advanced Engineering, Chrysler achieved excellent results in 1928 and 1929 in the Mille Miglia and Le Mans. Sir Malcolm Campbell lapped Brooklands at close to 100mph in his Chrysler and the marquee won numerous events in the States. Walter P Chrysler had a winning formula, producing cars with advanced Engineering, such as the very power 6 Cylinder L head engine in the series 75 and 4 wheel Lockheed hydraulic brakes, coupled with aggressive pricing. Made Chrysler an excellent value for the money, competing with many more expensive brands.
This rare Dual Cowl phaeton, is a series "75", which stood fro 75 Horsepower at 75 MPH, coupled with the factory Hydraulic brakes, these Chryslers make excellent road cars.
This series 75 Chrysler is ready to be restored to whatever level the owner sees fit. It is a very worthwhile project, with probably the rarest body style offered on a series 75.
The Body sheetmetal is very sound, and rust free. The structural wood work will require some attention to the framework of the doors. The interior was redone probably within the last 8 years, and could be retained for a driver. Originally delivered in a tan color that is visible on the hood under the existing finish. The dashboard is complete with all gauges and is in good shape.
This Chrysler would be a fun and exciting car to restore, as an example of a very early Chrysler product, or a very enjoyable CCCA Caravan tour car.
